“We’re excited to confirm that Borderlands 3 will be playable on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5, with the Series X and PS5 supporting 4K resolution at 60fps in single-player.”
The next-generation editions of the game will also come with three- and four-player splitscreen in local play. After much demand, Gearbox will also be implementing certical splitscreen in two-player co-op, which will also be added to the current-gen versions of the game in a future update.
When players upgrade to the next-generation, their add-on content and save files will carry over as well. Gearbox has also promised to share more details on the availability of cross-play sometime next year.
Finally, it was revealed that each character will be getting an additional Skill Tree, with Gearbox teasing FL4K the Beastmaster’s new Trapper Skill Tree.
Gearbox hasn’t announced a release date for the next-gen editions of Borderlands 3, but we’ll let you know once they share the news. More information on these announcements can be found in the latest blog post on their website.
