It’s time for our final piece of conference coverage, and we’re finishing with a bang by taking a look at the Nintendo Direct. Here’s what Nintendo showed during the stream.
Daemon X Machina
Nintendo’s Direct kicked things off with a trailer for game called Daemon X Machina. The game is packed with robots and mechs galore, and it looks to bring some chaos and destruction along with it. We saw the player taking on a group of large robots, utilising guns and swords to take them down.
Daemon X Machina is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country
Next, we saw another trailer which showcased a new add-on for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, entitled Torna ~ The Golden Country. The add-on looks to provide a new narrative to experience, while retaining the quality gameplay that Xenoblade is known for.
Torna ~ The Golden Country will be available in September.
Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee
A few weeks ago, we saw the reveal of the first Pokémon titles for the Nintendo Switch, and we got another look at the game here, alongside the Pokeball Plus.
Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee will be available on November 16.
Super Mario Party
Later this year we’ll be getting the first Mario Party title for the Nintendo Switch and it certainly looked ambitious! From what we saw in the trailer, Super Mario Party provides a set of all new mini-games for friends to enjoy together, as well as some new playable characters.
What looked most interesting though, was the use of multiple Switch tablets to customise mini-games in whatever way you please. In the trailer, we saw them adjust the layout of the map for a tank battle mini-game.
Super Mario Party will release on October 5.
Fire Emblem Three Houses
After being announced in January 2017, we’re finally getting a look at the upcoming Fire Emblem title for Nintendo Switch. Fire Emblem Three Houses looks to provide the same addictive gameplay that fans have loved for many years.
Fire Emblem Three Houses will be available in 2019.
We first heard about Fortnite coming to Nintendo Switch thanks to a leak that popped up last week, and now we’ve got official confirmation.
Providing the same experience that has taken the world by storm, Fortnite will be available on Nintendo Switch for free later today.
Overcooked 2 was also a part of the same leak, and it’s now confirmed to be true. Prepare for the ultimate cook off with new features like the ability to throw ingredients, kitchens that can change at any time, and the ability to cook with other players through wireless, local and online play.
Overcooked 2 will be available on August 7.
Killer Queen Black
Wipe out the enemies’ queen in Killer Queen Black! This multiplayer extravaganza is coming to Nintendo Switch. Square off in exciting battles when Killer Queen Black arrives on the Nintendo Switch later this year.
Hollow Knight is an action adventure with some gripping combat and an awesome art style. Hollow Knight is available with all the previously released content on the Nintendo Switch from today.
If you watched Square Enix’s E3 Showcase, you’d know that Octopath Traveler will be releasing soon. However, before its release on July 13, a brand-new demo for the game will be available.
The next Octopath Traveler demo will be available for download on June 14.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
After seeing a show reel of some upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch, we moved on to a title many were looking forward to; Super Smash Bros. We kicked things off with Masahiro Sakurai who gave a brief introduction before moving on to what characters will return. Surpisingly, we’ll be getting every character to ever appear in the series! Great reveal here, it’s good to see Snake and Ice Climbers back in the game.
Afterwards, Sakurai delved into what changes have been made to certain characters, and there’s quite a few. Many characters have had adjustments to their moveset, while others are sporting a different appearance than previous entries.
It was revealed that Dark Pit and Lucina were now in their own fighter category, known as Echo Fighters. These are characters that are based on other fighters. We’ve got another one to go with them as well. Daisy is now in the game! As one would expect, she’s Peach’s Echo Fighter.
We also got a breakdown of the new Inkling fighter, as well as updates to the assist trophies, which now include Bomberman, new types of Pokemon and more. Additionally, we’ll be seeing some classic stages return alongside some new ones too.
After detailing some of the new abilities available to the player, it was revealed that Gamecube controllers would be compatible with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as well as the past Amiibo figures.
Sakurai has one more announcement before leaving, and that’s a new fighter. After years of being a requested, Ridley has finally been added as a playable fighter!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available on December 7.
