Nintendo and Koei Tecmo announced a brand-new Hyrule Warriors overnight, and it’s going to serve as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set 100 years before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and focuses on The Great Calamity, a devastating event that plunged Hyrule into a deep darkness.
So far we’ve seen a number of characters confirmed to be playable, including Link, Zelda and the four champions that we saw in Breath of the Wild. Gameplay will feel familiar to fans of The Legend of Zelda series and Hyrule Warriors, with a focus on the hack-&-slash gameplay that we’ve seen before, as well as environmental puzzles, weapon and skill unlocks and crafting.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on November 20. The game is available for pre-order now, and anyone who does will receive the Lucky Ladle as an in-game bonus weapon.
