Square-Enix and Crystal Dynamics have announced that the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of Marvel’s Avengers will be delayed until next year.
The news was announced in a “State of the Game Update” on the official website, where they also announced that Kate Bishop’s Operation would also be delayed out of October.
The news is expected to be disappointing to many, with Marvel Avenger’s being plagued with issues since launch, forcing Crystal Dynamics to work effortlessly to deploy frequent bug fixes. The team also apologised for the state the game was released in.
“Marvel’s Avengers’ launch was not without turbulence, and we recognise that a number of issues detracted from your enjoyment of the game. This does not align with Crystal Dynamics’ value of craftsmanship, and for that we sincerely apologise.”
While the optimised versions won’t launch this year, you’ll still be able to play the game through backwards compatibility on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
An updated, definitive release date for Marvel’s Avengers was not revealed but we’ll share that update as soon as we hear more.
