4A Games, known for their work on the Metro series has been acquired by THQ Nordic’s holding company, Embracer Group for a reported $80 million USD.
With this news, it also looks like 4A Games are working on a new entry in the Metro series, alongside a brand new AAA IP. They’ll be working alongside Saber Interactive, who was also acquired earlier this year, on at least one of the projects.
“Together we will continue to build on the Metro franchise and will focus on bringing a multiplayer experience to our fanbase.” Sharpe also added that the team is looking forward “to building a new and even more ambitious AAA IP in the near future,” said 4A Games CEO Dean Sharpe.
The acquisition is a part of a continued spree from the holding company, who also acquired Sola Media, Pow Wow Entertainment, Palindrome Interactive, Rare Earth Games, Deca Games, New World Interactive and Vermila Studios.
4A Games most recently released Metro Exodus in 2019, which currently has a critic average of 83 on OpenCritic.
