Criterion Games have announced that cross-play between Windows PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One will soon be available in Need for Speed Heat.
Matt Webster, General Manager of Criterion Games announced the news in a post on the Need for Speed website, which also revealed the team were working on the next iteration in the Need for Speed franchise. The feature will be added to the game in an update set to go live over the next day or so.
“At Criterion, we’ve always believed that games are better with friends. We don’t want your platform of choice to be a barrier for that experience,” said Matt
The news marks Need for Speed Heat as the first EA-published title to enable cross-platform play. Once the update is installed, players across Steam, Origin, Xbox One and Playstation 4 will be able to opt-in, letting them play as one united community.
From June 16, the game will also be available on EA Access, potentially opening it up to more players. The service is available for AU$6.99 a month or AU$39.99 for a yearly subscription.
