Initially launching in 2011, the Nintendo 3DS didn’t catch on with fans right away. With Satoru Iwata leading the charge, Nintendo eventually turned the system around and it went on to sell over 75 million units.
“We can confirm that the manufacturing of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems has ended,” Nintendo said in a statement to Gamesindustry.biz.
It marks the end to a system that featured many notable releases, such as numerous Pokémon titles, Super Mario 3D Land, and Fire Emblem to name a few. The systems total software sales have exceeded 384 million units.
