In a move that is bound to please many, Nintendo has today announced a long-overdue update to the Nintendo eShop, allowing customers to cancel pre-orders for games prior to one week before launch.
Before today, Nintendo would charge customers immediately after pre-ordering a title, making it impossible to request a refund should they change their mind. As of today, pre-orders won’t be billed until 7 days before launch. Any titles pre-ordered before today’s announcement will not be affected unfortunately, and games that are pre-ordered within a week of releasing will still be charged instantly.
It’s a positive move on Nintendo’s end, giving customers more options with their purchases. It’ll be especially beneficial to those that like to pre-order early, providing the ability to opt out if they change their mind on a game ahead of launch.
