The Pokémon Company just shared new details around Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield‘s second expansion pass; The Crown Tundra. It has now been confirmed that the expansion will be available on October 22.
This expansion certainly looks like it will feature more content than what we got in The Isle of Armor, with new Dynamax Adventures and the Galarian Star Tournament being two new inclusions. There will also be returning Pokémon, as well as new Regis and Galarian forms for Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos and the newly revealed Slowking.
Dynamax Adventures are a new multiplayer mode that allows players to band together to explore new dens, where Dynamax Pokémon are set to lurk. You’ll also be able to find legendary Pokémon here, with every legendary from past entries being available to capture.
The Star Tournament allows you to team up with a key character from the game’s story and expansions. The new information didn’t expand on this too much but noted that you might see a new side to some of the characters as you either work together or fight against them.
To celebrate the release of The Crown Tundra, a collection of special Pikachu will become available through secret passwords. These Pikachu are wearing hats from Ash’s adventures in the Pokémon anime series. The passwords will be shared in the coming days, but the first is as follows: P1KACHUGET
In related news, it was revealed that Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield would be available with their expansion passes included from November 6, ultimately serving as a complete of the games.
Lastly, Pokémon Go is also set to finally link with Pokémon Home later this year. The team are hoping to have the feature available by the end of the year and will commemorate its addition with a special Melmetal that will be available through the Mystery Gift function in Pokémon Home. This is the first Melmetal that is capable of Gigantamax.
We’ll have more details on the expansion as it becomes available, but in the meantime let us know if you’re excited by commenting below.
