According to multiple reports, a new Nintendo Switch model is planned and could see a release before by the end of March 2021.
First reported by Economic Daily News, a Taipe-based outlet, the new model is scheduled to enter production sometime later this year, eyeing a release within Q1 2021 (January – March).
The report mentioned a number of new features, which have also been mentioned in an additional report from Bloomberg. Bloomberg’s report cites an unnamed source, who has mentioned the new Nintendo Switch model would feature 4K high-definition graphics and additional computing power. Alongside and following the launch, Nintendo apparently has a number of titles planned to release that will take advantage of the new capabilities of the console.
With the original Nintendo Switch launching over three years ago now, and the impending competition set to arrive with the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X, it makes sense for Nintendo to prep something that’s more powerful than their current console output. The Nintendo Switch Lite, a portable only edition of the console, launched in September last year.
